My Three Chairs

Wayne and I have been on a quest for

new side chairs for our dining room table.

We finally found what we were looking for...

of all places...

in our shed!

These mismatched chairs belonged to my

Pop Pop and Mom Mom.

Some sanding...

and a few coats of White Satin spray paint

and

some material to match our "blue print blue"!

And we ended up with...

this!

Each chair has it's own personality!

We are looking for one more chair

to complete our set!

A Surprise

Mom surprised me for Valentine's Day!

A little something to add on my wreath!

Our Monogram!

Isn't that the sweetest gift!

The monograms can be left natural, or painted!

Right now I am leaving ours natural.

I love the way the burnt edges,

looks against my burlap wreath!

Mom ordered them at

Southern Proper Monograms!

I think mine is the 8in size!

Blue Print Blue

One of the treasures we found during renovating

The Provision

was the original blue prints

used in 1954 to build the house!

When I was young....

I dreamt of becoming an architect.

While other kids were drawing pictures

of horses, unicorns, butterflies....

I was drawing floor plans.

Even a simple game of "playing house"

would lead to the "organization"

of a home design...

"from this tree to this tree is the living room,

the sandbox is the kitchen..."

you get the point,

I was alittle obsessed

to say the least!

Our home was originally to be built as a 1 story home,

but somewhere along the building process

a second story was added!

The letter above was given to me by my neighbor,

who was a cousin to the man who built our home.

The letter, written by his wife, detailed the

changes that were made to the home during building.

I feel so blessed to have this letter!

The photo is of the family that both built the home

and owned it till it was sold to us last year.

I found the photo behind the fireplace mantle!

To think

2 adults and 7 kids

all lived and grew up here!

Warning- real life photo.... rug needs vacuumed!

The rug we bought for this room is a great

combination of cream, brown, yellow and blue.

The same color blue as our original prints!

To create some unique artwork for this room,

we decided to have the blue prints framed!

We hung them on either side

of the opening to the back room!

Yesterday while "window shopping" in Lowe's

I found this little paint sample on the OOPS shelf

and guess what...

it's Blue Print Blue!

This bench has been a mulitude of colors...

and now I'm thinking of painting it blue!

Do you think I'm that brave?

Should I take that leap?

Am I the only one who

window shops at the

hardware store?

More Office Inspiration

I want to personally thank each of you who took the time

to comment on my last post!

I value each of your comments and fantastic decor opinions!

First, I want to acknowledge that all photos in today's

post are directly from Internet images and are

being used today solely for inspiration!

I am hoping to get my office narrowed down soon.

This week, while picking up copy paper at Walmart

I found a fun white and red floral fabric that

seemed to be calling my name!

It looks something like this, however reversed...

flowers are red, background white.

I would have taken a photo, if I would have thought about it. :)

Many people were drawn to this

inspirational photo from my last post.

I love this look too, but after careful thought,

I love change and limiting myself to only white art work

would not allow me to use some of the art pieces

I've already planned for this room!

Since finding the fun red and white fabric...

I pulled a few more photos to dream upon...

These shelves could be fun in that room!

Ahhhh... to have wood floors.

Or wooded views like this!

This library desk reminds me of my desk.

Christine, I will post about my desk soon!

I like the contrast of the wooden desk and the white walls.

Given that I don't have any white walls currently in this house,

I have a feeling I might go white and accent it with red?

Or white and accent it with black?

Or white and accent it with both red and black?

Decisions, decisions... decisions!

I'm also trying to decided if I want a white drum hanging light...

or

a fun white mini chandelier?

Knowing me, most of my decisions will be based

around budget, what I find

shopping my house and second hand and

on what I can make!

Right know I vision...

painting the room white

bleaching drop cloths and making curtains trimmed in the red fabric

painting a chair white and recovering the seat in red floral

thrifting for a light fixture to remake..

Right now I must run and paint the kids bathroom!

When it's time to change...

Last week we decided to flip-flop our upstairs guest
bedroom downstairs and our office upstairs.

Above is the poor before photo of my downstairs

office, before the move.
This is a real life, no staging photo!

The upstairs office is a blank slate!

It still has the builders paint...

so it's been off to the library and scanning

the Internet for inspiration!

Here are some of the things that have caught my eye..

I love the contrast of the white and green, however

I can't bear to paint my beautiful desk.

Love the soft colors in this photo.

Of course my desk would never look this clean!

A Change is Coming!

The Before....

My poor family room needs to lighten-up.

Many years ago we painted this room a

color called Mississippi Mud.

I liked the way this colored worked with the color

in my adjoining kitchen and breakfast room.

However, with the onslaught of Wii play,

my kids prefer the blinds drawn closed,

leaving this room to feel somewhat like a depressing tomb.

I decided it was time for a change.

Of course this "change" now involves not only this room,

but the kitchen, breakfast room

and

the entry hallway.

We have completed the painting in the family room

and hope to finish the rest this weekend!
