Going, Going, Gone

This is what our house looked after we bought it this time last year!

This is what it looked like a few weeks ago!

This photo was taken this evening.
Notice anything missing?

We have spent the past two weeks
 tearing out the overgrown landscape.
 I know, poor naked house....
Wayne and Zac thinks it looks better!

Wayne has gotten a great workout digging
up 40+ year old root balls.
We he still has these on this side of the house to remove.

Even Zac has gotten in on the "fun" and asked
if he could take on this bed to landscape!

To be honest none of us are all that skilled at landscaping,
so we spent Saturday at our local nursery
getting all kinds of great ideas!
The new roof is going on this week.
Wayne will be taking off the end of next week
so we can install the new plants.
Up dates to come!

I know I have said this before but your neighbors must be thrilled to have you a neighbors (for many reasons). What a cute home!
Way to go Wayne and Zac.
Oh yea, I'll be back!

Wow! You've already transformed your house and you haven't even put the plants in yet. I'm impressed.

I'm exhausted just thinking about digging up all those roots ... we tackled that task a few years ago.

It was messy and dirty. And I wish I could say my landscaping is super fab now, but the gas company had to dig up my front yard last summer due to a gas leak ...

So, like you, I'm starting anew again this year ...

I just dug up one root system, and it about did me in. This is no easy feat...but so worth it when it's done. I can't wait to see what you plant. I know you'll have fun at the nurseries.

Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I've been away from my computer for awhile. I hope your day was wonderful, too. :)

Wowzer....that is a lot of work! I just finished weeding out the bed in front of our house and that's only weeds! We also have some ugly dated landscaping around our house that needs to go but we haven't been brave enought to tackle it. I give you a lot of credit for taking that on!
Have a great weekend Dee Dee!

I think it is fun to have a "clean slate" to work with. I'm sure if your family is doing it, it will be gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you do.

Hello! I came by for a visit, but I see there are no new posts since the last time I visited... You and Wayne are still celebrating your anniversary... Woo Hoo! LOL! I did want to say that I should do the same as you guys are doing: I have big old shrubs that are overgrown, and half dead, in front of my porch. It would look terrible if I just took them all out without having something to put back in, so I will have to wait a while. But you guys sure did a great job! Can't wait to see what new little plants or shrubs you put in there, I'm sure it will look great!
Best,
Gloria
