What it could have been...

Have you ever tried starting a new tradition?
Maybe alittle something different for the holidays?

This could have been my Thanksgiving Tablescape
Simple silver, white and cream...
Some dried grass for the centerpiece...
If this would have been my table...
I would have added my best silverware!
Even have wrapped a napkin
 in the handmade tassels!
If this had been my Thanksgiving table
the glasses would have been filled...
The plates would have been filled...
and refilled
and in our family...
refilled again!
Eventually, the table would have been cleared..
A puzzle put in it place...
And someone would have been stuck
hand washing all those dishes.

So our new tradition...
paper plates
plastic cups
plastic silverware

and I gain an extra hour with my family!

I am posting with Tablescape Thursday
At Between Naps on the Porch.

Such a pretty table. Love the dried grasses!! I think paper products are a great new tradition. I got stuck in the kitchen washing all the dishes (with my sisters) but I would have rather been doing something else.

This made me smile. Lovely, lovely table even if it wasn't actually for Thanksgiving. I love the simplicity of it.

Dee Dee,
Amen on the paper plates and napkins! You know we have no dishwasher over here and the fun of handwashing has worn off!
Love the tablescape, it is beautiful!

Your table is beautiful. So simple and graceful.
I see nothing wrong with paper. Have you seen some of them? Gorgeous!

Gaining an extra hour is always a good thing.

So . . . is the Thanksgiving puzzle completed yet?

I think that is a great idea! Who wants to fuss over dishes? And like my mom said, there are some beautiful paper ones out there today.

I love dried grass as the centerpiece, there is something about it that says welcome, come sit.

I've always said that it's important to know the rules of gracious entertaining...and once you know them, it's your perogative to break the rules to suit your needs. The tablescape was sophisticated and beautiful, and I'm sure that you'll have another opportunity to use it to make your guests feel special. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
