Birdwatching Tea #2

Thank you so much to Susan at

Today is my second tea scape in my Birdwatching Series.
The bird of honor today is the beautiful blue Blue Jay.

Mom has had several of these birds at her feeders.

They are so interesting to watch.
They often grab a seed, retreat to a lower branch to eat,
then come back for more.
I wish I were able to get a good shot at his back feathers,
brilliant blues, whites, grays and blacks.
I took cues from these to build my pallet
for this week's tea scape.

My Blue Jay Tea scape!

I love the intricate detail on the dark blue teapot.
This is another from the "Mom Mom Friend" collection.

The B&G collectors plate is one of two Mom purchased on EBay.
She bought two, one for each year her children were born.
This one is my year.
(That makes me how old?)

This precious figurine is a Hummel from Germany.
Notice the blue flowers in her hand.
She is titled:
"From the Heart" or "Fur Dich"

I just loved Mom's little white Wedgwood teacup,
with the gold trim.

Perfect for a tea for one...

The mark on the bottom of the teacup.

I added a blue flower print napkin to my tray.
I had so much fun "playing" with Mom's collection!

Thank you for joining me to for tea..

and birdwatching!

Next weeks bird is a surprise.
(Frankly, because I haven't decided myself yet!)
There was a beautiful red headed woodpecker today at the feeder,
however, he was too fast for me to get a photo.
I'll keep trying, he is worth it!

Please join me tomorrow for Art Work Friday.
I hope to have Mr. Linky up and ready by 8:00pm tomorrow!
I was thrilled to have 8 people join me last week.
I loved browsing through each creative piece of ArtWork!
Everyone is so talented!

Dee Dee,
I just had to come visit you and thank you for the precious comment you left on my post about my mom. It absolutely blows me away that my posts can bring inspiration or comfort to someone else. I started writing my Wed. with Wanda posts as a way to help me express what I was going through and to help my children know about the wonderful grandmother they had. But knowing that it has blessed others means the world to me. It's hard to explain, but it helps me feel better about Mom's passing. It's like she is still alive (at least in spirit) and touching others. But I would never know that if you didn't take the time to share your thoughts with me. So what I am saying is...it matters. Thank you for blessing me!

DeeDee, I love that plate! All the pieces blend so nicely and the napkin just pulls all the shades of blue together. I will be posting huge news tomorrow and a great giveaway. I so enjoy your visits.

I haven't seen a Hummel in a long time!
I think they are some of the most precious figurines. The expressions and muted colors make them so wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.

Everything about your post I love. The Blue Jays, the table setting. Most especially that gorgeous tea pot. Just beautiful.

DeeDee when I clicked on your blog, I knew I was going to be delighted, but I have to say my heart skipped a beat when I saw your teapot...That is my Hall's alert going into action, lol..kind of like a smoke detector, beeping when it senses smoke...it that isn't a Hall's tea pot it is a great copy. I love all things Hall's but the teapots are the best. The cobalt blue and gold scroll work on this one is just lovely. I have one almost like it, but mine is black.
The whole table scape is perfect.

I loved the blue jay post! My husband loves to feed the birds around here and has been putting peanuts out every day for the blue jays. He has attracted several blue jays and I must say they are now getting rather fat from all the feeding!! They are almost announcing their arrival now with their "singing"...as if to say it's dinner time!
I loved the blue tea scape. A very pretty tray of blues!

I love that you based your "tea-scape" around the beautiful birds attracted to your feeder. My grandmother always loved birds and it was wonderful to watch them out the window with her. Thanks for wonderful memories and a beautiful tablescape for tea!

DeeDee, this is a DEE-lightful post! :D The whole scene is perfectly stages, both inside & out.
The gold scroll work on the teapot resembles the quilting pattern called "stippling".
I'm sorry to not be able to participate in your Friday Art post. I didn't forget...its just too dark & gloomy to get any kind of photos here in Ohio right now. The cloud cover is complete. Maybe next week, I'll be able to post it.

Oh & 'yes' I did make the little burgundy toile pillowcase dress for Caroline. She LOVES dresses!

Uh...that makes you much younger than I am! I love this one as much as last weeks! That teapot is gorgeous. This was really a great idea...I almost missed it somehow.

What a beautiful tablescape and picture! I love how your tablescape captures the delicate nature of the bird and the crisp/cool temperature of the outside. You truly have the eye of an artist. Thanks for your sweet comment on my recent {heartfelt} post. Lisa
