Laundry Room Makeover #1

Be warned:
Not all the following photos are pretty!

Better yet,
just consider these the before photos
with the afters to come soon!

Our goal this week is to redo the laundry room.
Why you ask?
Have you ever read the children's book
"If You Give A Mouse A Cookie"?
This project all started with a needed paint job.

We still have builders grade flat in this room.

If you look around the bottom 1/4 of the room
you will notice a beautiful darker brown shade.
No, this is not a painting effect, this is an Abby effect!

This is Abby!
( 150lbs of pure love)
Well painting the room is no biggie,
except...
We left our dear on the 4th of July with a dog/house sitter
and she must have freaked
because she did this...

Meaning...
now we must paint the walls and fix the floor.
She also did this...

Meaning...
we should also replace the door,
However, given that we have several trips planned this year
we will leave the door as is and just paint it instead!

So our list now includes:
finish laundry
remove washer and dryer to dining room
take off base boards
pull up old flooring
paint walls
paint door
add bead board (or something like it) to walls
install backer board for tile
install tile
grout tile
seal tile
reinstall trim
reinstall washer and dryer
do the laundry
(I did say it is a circular project!)

We installed cabinets when we built the house.
They offer alot of room for storage,
so they will be staying.

I've also found several wicker baskets
to store cleaning and dog supplies.
These will stay.

We hope this finish this project this week,
during Wayne's vacation.
(Yes, I have the best husband in the world!)

Stay tuned for the after photos...
They've got to be an improvement over the befores!

Thank you so much to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch!

Good luck with your painting-of-a-different kind project. My home projects are kind of like "if you give a mouse a cookie" too! One thing always calls for another... and another. I love that funny photo of Abby... inspiration for a great drawing!

DeeDee, I dread painting and redoing of any kind so I will keep good thoughts going your way. With a Josh and Keelie I know what Abby can do. Great pic by the way. Good luck.

I love the picture of Abby!! I just want to give her a big hug.
Looking forward to seeing the results of your (and your hubby's) hard work in the laundry room.
I love seeing makeovers. My guest bedroom redo is 99% done and I should have my final reveal soon.
Have a fun week.

Thanks for checking out my powder room.

NOT ABBY! She is way to cute to do something like, destroy the floor!
There is something about a fresh laundry room. It makes the clothes cleaner (?)!

I can't wait to see the finished room. We have shelves in our laundry room, but I want cabinets. I keep hoping I will find some on Craigslist (or on the curb).

Best of luck with your laundry room. I am having to start on mine as well here soon. Mine has flat builders paint and just needs to be better utilized for storage. I hope you finish soon so I can get some good re-do ideas! BTW I love the wicker baskets, I need some of those!

Oh Abby...lol. Surely that bundle of joy didn't do all that. I'm only laughing because I can relate. We came home one time to find a hole in the wall of our previous house. Our dog missed us and wanted out. That inspired a whole new room redo, too. I was glad it happened because it looked great afterwards. I can't wait to see your after pics. Good luck with the project. Love your baskets...and LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of Abby.
