Dressing Up the Slots

Our kitchen came with an architectural
feature that we decided to simply work with
rather than spend the big bucks to have removed.
Can you find the beam?
I did my best to add arrows!
Can you find them?
The beam goes from one side of the
kitchen to the other side of the TV room.
It is where the original home ended
and the existing addition started.
We were able to incorporate the support column
in the middle of the room into the island.
When it came to the kitchen side of the beam,
we had to get creative.
Our kitchen designer suggested adding this cute cubbie,
which fit like a glove!
I decided it would be fun
to dress up the slots
with different color towels.
These I could change depending
on the season.
My everyday look is a mix of zebra and grey!
For Christmas I went with dark gray and bright red!
Now that it is spring...
I went with yellow and gray!

The kids always like it when I buy lemons for decor!
 Soon we will have...
Homemade lemonade!

All this show and tell has me thinking...
maybe I will fill the slots with mini pumpkins for fall!

Celebrating 150, 250 with a Give-a-Way

Today I'm Celebrating

9/3/09

Date of my first blog post!

Today marks post number
250!

It has been 2 1/2 years of joy!

As of today I have
150 followers.

And while that's not a big number...
it is the people who make up that number
that are special!

The friends I've made
have meant the world to me!
Blessings
 true blessings
 each and everyone of you.

So today I'm celebrating
 you,
each person who
takes a minute to read my ramblings,
look thru way too many photos,
take "walks" with me,
even leave me a precious comment.

A great big
Thank You!

In honor of you I am offering a small give-a-way...
 The gift of "Solitude"!

It is a tiny 2x2 painting that I painted this winter.

All you have to do is....

If you are not a blogger but would
still like an opportunity to win
please leave a comment using the
anonymous  feature in the comment section.
(Just make sure you add your
name someplace in the comment
and check back next Monday!)

I will hold this give-a-way open till next Monday
March 26th.

And once again....

thank you!
(Wish I had a painting to give away to each one of you!)

Refreshed

Pops of yellow...

are taking over my house!

Meanwhile... I'm skipping ahead to summer

and dreaming of the beach!

And counting down the months, days and minutes...

To dig my toes in the sand....
as the water rushes over my feet...

Till then...

I'll be refreshed by spring!

An Afternoon Walk

Around the corner from our home...
Is a lane...
Which leads to these steps...
Which takes you to the footbridge...
That leads to the town cemetery...
On the other side of the same creek...
Which runs behind our home...
(see the white house poking thru the trees?)
Which is back up the steps..

Down the lane...

and

Around the corner...

Thank God for Girl Friends

This past week I was busy
getting ready for our Ladies' Spring Outreach at
my church.

I was in charge of the gathering and assembling
the give-a-way baskets,
decorating the information and registration tables,
and was assistant to Kelly, who was in charge of all the food!

How else better to get women to the information table....
candy and gift baskets!

Aren't these shoes the cutest!
I made them to use for table decorations
and table numbers place cards.

The ladies loved the orange segments and Twizzlers.

We had 33 dessert tables and each table
had a hostess who had the freedom
to decorate at will!

All the tables were so unique and beautiful!
Here are a few of my favorites!

We asked for skilled bakers to bring a variety of goodies!
And these were served on tiers at each table!
Men from the church came and served the tables
filling and refilling glasses with water, tea and coffee!

This table was perfect for spring!

The table number shoe!
We served Chex Mix in white cupcake holders
surrounded by lovely paper surrounds.

I loved these clear square plastic plates
with a bright napkin underneath!

This table was decorated by my dear art teacher friend, Gail!

Each tier was topped with fresh fruit!

Our speaker was a local Christian comedian!
All in all
the evening was a huge success!
And I can breath sigh of relief that it is over...

...till next year!
