Silver and Gold

The hardware in our new house is
all done in a brushed nickle finish.
All except for the hinges on the front and side door,
which we purchased prehung
at a discount from our local
Pease Warehouse.
The side door came with bright gold hinges.
Wanting them to match the rest of the hardware,
I pulled out my trusty tube of...
Rub 'n Buff.
I am using a silver leaf color,
but this product comes in 16 different metallic colors.
The possibilities and applications are endless!
To do my hinges,
I simply put tape on either side of the hinge.
Rubbed on the color with my finger.
Buffed it with a clean cloth.
Removed the tape...
And received the satisfaction that I now
have matching hardware!

I am linking this mini metamorphosis
over at Between Naps on the Porch.

No brushes and no tools, either.
Just some tape and a finger. Now that is smart.

How was Thanksgiving?
Thanks for asking about Arthur. He is doing ok.

Great idea! We are in the process of redoing our kitchen cabinets and sadly new hardware is not in the budget. I am so going to try this! So much easier that trying to spraypaint them!

Hey there Dee Dee. No, the wood floors were not under the carpet...they are new. Just about everything in the house is new...it was so damaged when we bought it. Thanks for your sweet comments!

Greetings! Wow, you are a genius. I see lots of ideas of spray painting stuff like this with ORB (oil rubbed bronze) spray paint, but THIS is great if one wants a SILVER metallic finish! You should pin this Pinterest*, people would love to hear this idea!!
Best,
Gloria

Just showed this to Kim. We have the same issue with our front door. We will now be fixing it when the weather warms up again.
