Art Work Friday #8

Happy Friday!

This is a piece a did several years ago while visiting a dear friend in Indianapolis.

We were able to spend a day painting in her studio.

I used acrylics, because the piece had to be transported by car 2 hours home and oils would have been messy!

I've done several pieces that figures begin to pop their way out of the paint.

This piece conjures up images of my husband and I walking together in the rain.

Below is a similar piece that I painted in college.

I've titled this one "Three Blind Men".

Once again the figures just emerged off the canvas!

Thank you for visiting with me today!

A Cinderella Dinner

Ahhh, it's Thursday again...
I must confess that participating in Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch has caused me to stretch my creativity each and every week. When I take an inventory of my dishware, it does make me wonder just how many different tablescapes I can create with such limitations (in comparison to many of your floor to ceiling china closets!) When looking back over the several weeks I've been able to share with you, I realized that I had not yet displayed my full set of hand-me-down china....
So today join me for a Cinderella Dinner!
Complete with a glass bead napkin ring for you, my guest of honor!

Please, have a seat...
The china that was passed down to me came with this wonderful 6 piece setting.

Each piece is graced with petite pink roses.

And what dinner being thrown in Cinderella's honor would be complete without fairy tale pumpkins!

For more information and directions on how to make these elegant wire pumpkins
click on over to Mamie Jane's!

The glass sparkles and shines!

A view from the other end of the table...

Homestrung napkin rings, to catch the light just right!

Candlelight adds to the night!

One last view before the clock strikes 12!!

Thank you for joining me today!
Please drop by tomorrow for Art Work Friday!

Art Work Friday #7

OK, let me just preface...
This is not my art work today.
On Fridays, I have the extreme joy to teach a home school co-op art class!
I have about 10 sweet 1st - 3rd graders in my class.
Last week we studied about how all the colors in the world can be made with
red, yellow and blue.
Their assignment was to mix simple color wheels then use them in a design of their choice.
(I love when kids get to stretch their creativity!)
These were the results...
Some were more abstract and some more concrete..

3 rainbows- each so unique!
The yellow one with the sun is a cover wagon...
Can you tell that many made the wonderful discovery
that if you mix all of the colors together you get..
brown!

Don't you just love the tree with the red leaves?
Perfect for fall!

Happy Friday!
Thank you for visiting.

A Tea for Two and One

A Tea for Two
Come and join me for a quiet tea for two.
I've set a special table just for me and you...
I've added cheery flowers to chase away the chill...

Added Earl Gray ...

Or would lemon verbena better fit the bill...

A holder from Korea, to rest our spoon upon...

Come, join me, I beckon,
I know it would be fun!

No visitors today, so I made a tea for one...

Added yummy cheese and crackers, a mini pumpkin too...

And brightened up my table with a little hint of blue!

Thank you for joining me today for our tea to two!

Special thank you to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch
for hosting Tablescape Thursday each week!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins

I've been busy.....
making pumpkins!
I must confess that neither ideas are my own and will be linking each idea to the original site that sparked such over abundant creativity!

So what does one do with 20 plus sweaters?

Make pumpkins of course...

Make "elegant" ones...

Make "fun" ones..

Make "striped" ones..

And light green ones..

These adorable pumpkins are made from sleeves of old sweaters!

You may ask why so many sweaters????

I am preparing to decorate for a ladies fall event I'm hosting at my church and each table will be dressed in an array of fall decor and sweater pumpkins!
Although, I am sure if you ask the local thrift store, they would believe that I'm preparing for a very cold winter!

I want to take this special opportunity to credit Deb at hummadeedledee for sharing her inspiring and extremely creative idea with us. For a complete tutorial on how to make these wonderful little sweater pumpkins hop on over to Deb's site at...

Thank you Deb!

I have also been inspired to try my hand at creating these fantastic wire pumpkins!

These too will be used to decorate the tables at the ladies fall event.

Special thanks goes to Jane at mamiejanes for her excellent idea and tutorial on these wire pumpkins! I just fell in love with them when I saw them. Since I'm on a very tight budget for decor, this project also kept the $ in check!

For a complete tutorial please hop on over to Jane's blog

http://mamiejanes.blogspot.com/2009/09/wire-pumpkin-project.html.

Thank you Jane!

To give you an idea, I was able to create 8 wire pumpkins for 200 feet of wire!
That 200 feet cost me under $7.00!
Thank you for visiting with me today!
I am linking this to Metamorphosis Monday at Susan's site
Thank you Susan for hosting us each week!
If you have been inspired to try either of these projects, make sure to click on over to Deb's and Jane's sites and let them know how much you've enjoyed their creativity!

Art Work Friday #6

Color Study
Welcome to Art Work Friday.
I created this piece as a color study for a larger project I was working on.
I love the way the colors played and blended together.
This piece is only about 4 inches x 4 inches.
Perfect for fall, wouldn't you say!

A close up of the same piece...

Thank you so much for joining me for Art Work Friday!

I would love to see your favorite art work.

I am only posting pieces that my hubby or I've created, but I would enjoy seeing your creations or your favorite pieces of art hanging in your home.

Your comments mean so much to me!

Happy Fall

I love fall!

Fall is all about color!

Today's tablescape is full of color!

Red, orange, brown, yellow and blue...

Want to know a secret?

The center hurricane is setting on an upside down mixing bowl.

I surrounded the white bowl with all kinds of fun fall items!

Pinecones, mini pumpkins, and fall foliage...

A small blue tea light holder on a red beaded coaster..

A fun sweater pumpkin for each of my guests!

for more information on sweater pumpkins click here...

Place settings include a large blue plate, a medium white salad plate and a orange soup bowl!

The colorful mugs were a recent birthday gift from a friend!

Each mug has a different color on the inside.

A view from above...

Happy colorful fall!

I am posting this to Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch!
